Erika Allison’s presentation for our Worldly Women of Irvine webinar was upbeat, educational, and evoked several emotions. She shared the heartbreaking experience of being subjected to conversion therapy by her mother after coming out. It was eye-opening to hear about the detrimental effects this so-called therapy has on individuals who have gone through it, sometimes even leading to suicide. She was one of the fortunate individuals that survived and was driven to enact positive change due to her experience. Erika Allison is a force for good in this world.

Belonging in the Workplace:

Fostering diversity and Equity in Teams

How much time and productivity is lost in the workplace due to interpersonal conflicts? And how many innovative ideas do we miss out on because all team members don’t feel truly welcome to share their voices.

A workplace where every single person feels accepted and like they belong allows people to contribute from their unique perspective, which may be the exact perspective needed to bring a novel edge to your product or service. Diversity is great, but it only contributes to a stronger workplace if everyone feels they belong and can bring the best of themselves forward. This requires a culture that reinforces acceptance, creativity, and authenticity.

When everyone’s best is free to shine, employees are invigorated, customers benefit, and new talent wants to come on board.
